Not literally to win a tour for free, but to make the most of your budget.
I’d been to Puerto Princesa and El Nido recently.
As soon as I arrived in Palawan, I asked a few locals about some tours and was shocked of the pricing.
I have an idea how roughly a particular tour costs, though I had not made any prior arrangement.
For example, an Underground River tour costs 1,500 to 1,600 pesos according to some bloggers. However, the regular rate in Puerto Princesa is PHP2,000.00.
Luckily, I met a local during a stroll in the city, and he offered me the same tour for 1,600 pesos.
To get the most out of your budget, I recommend that you:
1. Research the tours you want. E.g. Underground River, Honda Bay, Tour A in El Nido, etc.
2. Check the prices on the Klook app or book tours through it. Sometimes, the company runs a “buy one, get one free” promo.
3. Reference the price on the Klook app which is fair in my opinion, then haggle if you want to sign up through a travel agency. It’s a very common practice in the Philippines. Try to lower down Klook’s price by 100 to 300.
